CAS: 107-21-1
Monoethylene glycol (CAS:107-21-1)thylene glycol, also known as ethylene glycol, is clear, colorless, syrupy, liquid with sweet taste. It is used as an antifreeze in cooling and heating systems. In organic synthesis, it is used as a protecting group for carbonyl groups. Ethylene glycol is miscible with water, ethanol, acetone, acetic acid, glycerol, pyridine, but difficultly soluble in chloroform, ether, benzene, carbon disulfide, and insoluble in hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, oils, rubber, natural resin. It also can dissolve table salt, zinc chloride, potassium carbonate, potassium chloride, potassium iodide, potassium hydroxide and other inorganic compounds.
Application industries:
· Mainly used for making polyester fiber, polyester resin, dehumidifying agents, plasticizers, surfactants, synthetic fibers,
· Can be used as a dye / ink solvent, the preparation of the engine antifreeze, gas dehydration.
· For the production of synthetic resin, PET, or polyester fiber grade PET, bottle grade PET film used to produce mineral water bottles.
· Can also produce alkyd resins, also used as antifreeze.
