Phthalic anhydride, or phthalic anhydride, is a cyclic anhydride formed by the intermolecular dehydration of phthalic acid. Benzyl anhydride is a white solid, which is an important raw material in chemical industry, especially in the manufacture of plasticizer. Phthalate anhydride can be used instead of phthalic acid and mainly reacts with monoalcohols to form esters, such as dibutyl phthalate and dioctyl phthalate.
Application
· Phthalic Anhydride is one of the most important organic chemical raw materials. Its main derivatives include Dibutyl Phthalae, Dioctyl Ester and Diisobutyl Phthalate, etc., used as plasticers for PVC, etc. It also can be used to produce unsaturated plyester resins, alkyd resins, dyes and pigments, various paints, food additives, phenolphthalein, a laxative in medicine, imidophos in pesticides, triazone, and sodium saccharin, etc.
