Potassium Formate

· An organic salt, usually a white solid, highly hygroscopic, non-toxic and non-corrosive, primarily used in oil drilling fluids (as an environmentally friendly drilling fluid additive), and also as an environmentally friendly de-icing agent, leather industry auxiliary agent, electroplating additive, carbon black surface modifier, and agricultural foliar fertilizer. It is readily soluble in water, its aqueous solution is colorless, it has reducing properties, and it can react with strong oxidizing agents.

Oil drilling fluid (high-performance drilling fluid/completion fluid) is also widely used as an environmentally friendly de-icing agent, agricultural foliar fertilizer (providing potassium and promoting growth), leather tanning (disguised acid), dyeing reducing agent, cement early strength agent, and is also used in coolant, electroplating and mining. It is a multifunctional industrial chemical.
